Children and Youth Programs

Our Parish Family offers a welcoming community where children and teens can grow in faith, friendship, and service.  Through these programs and opportunities, young people are invited to know Christ, share their gifts, and take an active part in parish life.

We encourage parents to support their children’s participation and to consider volunteering as catechists, mentors, or ministry helpers. To ensure a safe and nurturing environment, all adult volunteers complete Safe Environment training and a background check. Together, we can help our young parishioners build a joyful, lifelong relationship with God and the Church.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Volunteering in the Parish requires training and background check.  If you are new and interested to volunteer, please register here or contact Daniel Pelfrey at dpelfrey@parishfamily14.org and Lori Corcoro at lcorcoro@parishfamily14.org.

If you are currently serving or have completed the required training and background check, select the parish where you would like to serve, then sign up for your preferred ministry role and date.

Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW)

  • Children ages 4–8 are invited to hear and reflect on the Sunday Scripture readings in an age-appropriate setting during Mass.
  • Guided by trained leaders, they explore God’s Word through simple language, prayer, discussion, and music.
  • Children leave before the First Reading and return during the Preparation of the Gifts to join their families for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
  • CLOW helps our young parishioners grow in faith and discover that God’s Word is joyful, welcoming, and meant for them.

Schedule:

  • St. Benedict Church: Every Sunday, 11 AM Mass
  • St. John Church: Most Sundays, 10:30 AM Mass; Check the Parish Family Calendar

For questions and to volunteer, please contact Daniel Pelfrey at dpelfrey@parishfamily14.org and Lori Corcoro at lcorcoro@parishfamily14.org.

Youth Mass

  • The Youth Mass is a joyful celebration where our young people are at the heart of the liturgy.
  • Children and teens take active leadership as choir members, altar servers, lectors, ushers, Eucharistic ministers, and in other ministries, helping to bring the Mass to life through their gifts and faith. Training and guidance are provided for all who wish to serve.
  • Together, as families and community, we can help our young parishioners discover the joy of worship and the blessing of serving God and one another.

Schedule: Every third Sunday, 11 AM at St. Benedict Church. Please note that Youth Mass is suspended for the summer.

For questions and to volunteer, please contact Daniel Pelfrey at dpelfrey@parishfamily14.org and Lori Corcoro at lcorcoro@parishfamily14.org.

Order of Christian Initiation for Children (OCIC)

  • If your child is from another faith tradition but feels at home in our Parish Family, or is a baptized Catholic who wants to learn more, Order of Christian Initiation for Children (OCIC) might be the perfect place for them to grow in faith.
  • The OCIC is a faith journey for children who have not yet been baptized or who wish to complete their Sacraments of Initiation.
  • Through prayer, Scripture, and engaging instruction, children are gradually introduced to the teachings and life of the Catholic Church in a welcoming and supportive community.
  • They are prepared to receive Baptism, Confirmation, and First Holy Communion, which are usually done during the Easter Vigil.

Schedule: Classes typically start in December and held on Sundays.
